Latest NewsTamorkhola 500 MW Hydro Power Storage Project - July 14, 2008

Hillsdale Group has submitted a  proposal to the Department of Electricity Development, Ministry of Water Resources, Government of Nepal to conduct a DPR (Detailed Project Report) and EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) of the Tamorkhola 500 MW Hydro Power Storage Project located in the far eastern region (Terathum District of Koshi Zone) of Nepal. A Desk Study of the project has been completed and submitted to the Department of Electricity Development.

On behalf of the Hillsdale Group, FEED (Forum for Energy and Environment Development) P. Ltd., carried out the initial Desk Study of the project. FEED is an engineering company based in Nepal and has extensive experience of hydro power development.

Based on the initial study of the project, it is estimated that the Dam size will be 150 m high and 590 m wide.  35 km of access road and 70 km of transmission line need to be constructed. The project cost is estimated to be US $977 million and DPR (feasibility study) cost is estimated to be approximately US $ 2.5 million.
